Why ACT AS IF products?

We found the need to create games and activities that would promote spontaneous and ‘in the moment’ interactions.  In doing so, we started with foundational skills which are then integrated into dynamic communication.

Our kids need practice activities, and we start with warm ups, move to rehearsal, and then play it out in real deal scenes.

Testimonials

"My daughter is reserved, and Act as If has helped her come out of her shell and participate in situations that would otherwise be uncomfortable for her. She is getting good practice, but in a more natural setting versus a more staged environment as we've experienced in other groups."

Parent- 8 year old girl diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder

“Thanks to you, our son has made HUGE progress in interacting verbally with
other kids.  His confidence and facility with language has grown immensely across all social settings, due in no small measure to his Act As If experience.”

Parent- 12 year- old with diagnosis of Social Anxiety and an Expressive Language Disorder

“We too believe there have been positive changes from Act As If. Whereas all last year our son sat outside the cafeteria at school by himself during lunch (school staff said "that's what he wanted"), this year he has told us about a few interactions with peers at lunchtime. This is HUGE for us, and why we keep coming.”

Parent- 8 year- old girl with a diagnosis of expressive language disorder and attention deficit disorder

“My daughter was self -monitoring, holding back, and lowering volume. We are very happy that challenges and successes are following through outside the 'Act As If' zone.”

Parent-13 year- old with diagnosis of Autism

“That was new for her and she had not volunteered in the past 6 weeks. She must have felt more confident after practicing in the safe, encouraging environment you provide.”

“Our daughter has been doing well in her interactions.  We have seen improvements, and it has been exciting. We are very thankful to have found you all!”

My son has had many different kinds of therapy and interventions. Some have been duds and some have been great. Act As If has been a wonderful experience for my son and has really helped him with everyday communication, social skills and much more.
